Tims proposal was perfect! We had looked at rings together so I knew it was coming but I knew he was going to wait until after he graduated from the Chesterfield Fire Academy (December 16). I’m not very patient, and thought he might try to surprise me early so I built up a ton of moments in my head! He even teased me a few times before the proposal and got down on one knee when doing household chores or picking up the remote. He was driving me crazy! But it made it so much more special when he totally surprised me the day after he graduated the academy, December 17. His mom was on her way over to my house to pick us up to do some last minute Christmas shopping. I was rushing around picking things up off the floor and doing some quick cleaning. I was upstairs and Tim hollered for me to come downstairs. I remember thinking, come on Tim, you know how to make your own sandwich your mom will be here in 30 minutes! But instead came downstairs singing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas.” I came around the corner of the stairs and our dogs were there to greet me. I noticed Tim had changed their collars and was so excited to see he had gotten them matching ‘Christmas collars’ (because I’m a crazy dog mom like that). He said, “Well did you look at them?” At this point I sat down on the couch and read to my surprise, “Will you marry Daddy?” Of course, I jumped into his arms and said YES! For us it makes total sense since our dogs really are so important to us, but still for me, is totally embarrassing. It’s fun to look back on that moment because it really was the best day of my life! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with the most amazing person standing next to me.
