We had gone to Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks, NC for the day with some close friends. I had taken a walk down the beach in search of shells. Gabe had called out to me, and I turned around and saw him walking to catch up. We walked down the beach together as he helped me find shells, then I went to the water to rinse the sand off a handful when he called me over. I figured he had found something really cool like a whole conch shell or shark tooth, so I ran over. He then began fishing in his pocket of his swim shorts and then he got down on one knee. I immediately was blown away and began crying because after almost 8 years I knew this was the moment I had always dreamt of. Once I composed myself somewhat Gabe asked me if I would marry him, and of course I said yes! He put the beautiful ring on my finger, and I admired it as it sparkled on the sun kissed beach. We always joke that I did find something more than a few shells to take home that day. Gabe had said he was so nervous before it happened although he knew what my answer would be. Our friends were kind enough to capture the moment for us and celebrate the rest of the week.
