It was an eerily foggy day on the mountain at Wintergreen Resort, driving up to the top you couldn’t see more than 200 feet infront of you. I had never photographed in an environment like this and to say that I was a little nervous was an understatement. However once we arrived Laura said something that stuck with me the rest of the day “I was looking forward to getting married on the mountain and now I get to be married in the clouds!” To Laura and her family this was a blessing and it turned out to be one of the most unique ceremonies I’ve ever been to.
Laura and Duran are into fitness, so much so that they bought each other some truly bad ass bicycles, for all of the iron man and triathlon competitions that they do (how awesome is that!). These two have a competitive spirit but you can tell that they also fight for each other. They simultaneously support and respect each other, and sometimes Laura even lets Duran win a few races. It was fun to witness this self proclaimed “tom boy” turn into a bride, and while happily twirling her dress for some photos her mother said “Oh Laura I’ve never seen you do that before” to which she said “I know, I’m getting married today”!
There was just so many memories from this wedding, from “Tell them about the otters” to the tree that was planted using the soil of the two mountains where they grew up, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget Duran’s mom playing air guitar! It was a day filled with love, laughter, and dancing (Duran had some seriously killer moves on the floor that night, just ask him about “Beat It”). Thank you guys for letting me be a part of your wedding, I loved every minute of it!
