Three nights and five days (two of which were for travel) were all the time we had for a getaway. A five year anniversary trip that would be a surprise to me. Like the New Years Eve DC trip that I surprised Kristy with. I knew nothing about our destination, all I knew was what to pack and where to show up. By the way, if you ever have the chance to do this for the one you love I highly recommend it. It is completely stress free and filled with anticipation and mystery. Kristy definitely raised the bar for vacations this time though!
Even planning an excursion to Key West for the day we walked in the warmth of the sun with one another, and in-between Hemingway’s home, Duval Street, and the turquoise blue waters we found ourselves holding hands more, our shoulders getting a little lighter, and smiling a little more often. Though the massive amounts of pie and mojitos probably didn’t hurt this process. Still, it was good to get away from everything and take time to focus on what was important and then ask ourselves why we don’t do this more often.
Miami was amazing and if I ever disappear you may want to check if I’ve purchased a small home near the water here. Though a little warm, the culture, food, and people were something that I immediately took to. I even can’t get enough of the salsa music. The cuban food with mojitos and gelato deserts can’t be beat either.
